When I as a busy litigator first heard years ago of possible requirements for hyperlinking and bookmarking, my hair stood on end for fear of extra work and the unknown. Fast forward, though hyperlinking is not universally required—in the trial courts limited to the Commercial Division—I’m nonetheless hyperlinking almost everything in sight. Hyperlinks are links to external URLs (website page addresses), whereas bookmarks are links to reference points within the same document. We here address hyperlinks. Why Now?
