PITTSBURGH, PA — Pittsburgh police animal law officers found at least two dozen cats and kittens living in deplorable conditions Thursday in a home in the 4000 block of Foster Street in Lawrenceville. Criminal charges are pending, police said.Police began investigating after the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire alerted them to possible animal hoarding after responding to a recent fire. The homeowner was on scene and surrendered the animals to Humane Animal Rescue on the North Side.
